Who am I?

Who is Jason Bourne?
Bourne is a rogue black operative leveled above top secret in affiliation to the Central Intelligence Agency of America. He is a ghost with a large number of names registered in various countries and plenty of past names.

He was the first experiment of Treadstone and was the hardest to break down likely due to David's extreme internal moral code. He has endured heavy trauma as part of the program's protocol that breaks men down mentally, emotionally, and morally until they are stripped to bare wire and ready for 'reprogramming'.

He is a human weapon and as such is highly dangerous. Bourne has all the credentials of a Black Op with a mind of a Captain which was the rank David had attained before enlisting in to Treadstone. He has a rapid response time and is quick to take lead and take action. Bourne is resourceful, methodical, and nigh unstoppable and he is very good at surviving. It is mentioned in canon that "they don't make mistakes. They don't do random. There is always an objective. There is always a target."

Who is David Webb?
David is a career-long soldier who. He is morally strong and has a supreme internal code of what is and what is not right or wrong. This is proven by the very fact that, even after all the 'conditioning' he endured at Treadstone, he could not go through with a job of assassinating another man due to that the man's children were in the room. If faced by opposition that is female, young, or well aged, he might hesitate or make action to cause the other to surrender rather than simply take them out. He will only execute such a task in complete and utter dire situations that result in life or death consequences of the larger number.

David is the type of man that would throw himself into fire to save a life and walk away before anyone could know who it was that did so or hand him any sort of prize for the matter. It's just who he is. He doesn't want fame. Webb is not vain and nor does he look for the title of hero. He is a man who loves his country and wants to do right for those he fights beside. He enlisted in Treadstone for exactly that reason, as he was told he would do things no other men could; things that would keep American's safe and save lives. He is an extremely good-hearted man, a Catholic, a patriot. He can be sweet, shy, gentle, with a side of cheeky.

David, like Jason, has all the abilities of an extremely well trained operative but he is emotionally in tune with the world and himself. David loves, as he was in love more than once. He sympathizes, he hurts, he smiles, he laughs, he cries. He is humane and very emotionally durable.

Who is the man in between?
The man in between is the man that we know on screen for most of the movies. Typically going by the name of Jason Bourne (But now opts to go by the name of David Webb), the man in between suffers from amnesia and is highly damaged having endured the extreme conditioning of Treadstone often having trouble sleeping and enduring sometimes painful flashbacks.

He remembers bits and pieces of his life as Jason Bourne before he was found floating on the Mediterranean Sea but is constantly seeking to fill in all the gaps. He does not remember David Webb at all save for whatever might be found in his files. The man in between carries both the skills of Bourne and the humanity of Webb with a side order of fragmentation. He is the combination of the weapon and the man and he aches for some form of normalcy after he's retained the answers he seeks.

The question is, can he ever be normal? He was a soldier his entire life and during any situation that calls for the black operative, all moral shuts off and the weapon comes out until the job is done. It is something so hardwired in to him that the truth of the matter is that he will likely never be 'normal' ever again. He can and does easily flip a switch the instant he senses danger rapidly changing from the good soldier to the cold weapon.

The man in between tries to keep people at an arms length and prefers to look after people from afar. It's easier than it sounds, because his humane side cares for the welfare of others, but he knows that being in connection to anyone makes them as much of a target as he is. It protects him, and it protects them.
